Amazon’s First Prime Air Delivery

Amazon's First Prime Air DeliveryAmazon’s first prime air delivery was successful in Cambridge, UK.  The Prime Air Drone Delivery service is offered by Amazon and is currently being tested. Air Drone deliveries could become a possible and viable service offered in the very near future. The company first explored the possibilities back in 2013 and had envisioned 2018 as the year when deliveries would start.

A nearby customer was the first lucky individual to receive a TV streaming stick and a bag of popcorn right in his back yard. Currently the Amazon Prime Air service is only available for two nearby customers of Amazon’s Cambridge, UK outskirts testing location. Jeff Bezos, Amazon chief executive confirmed the delivery by tweeting: “first ever #AmazonPrimeAir customer delivery is in the books. 13 min—click to delivery.”

Drone deliveries can only be made in ideal weather conditions with good visibility. They can not fly in storms, rain or snow. The goods are placed inside the body of the drone and guided to the customer by GPS. The drones can transport packages of 2.3kg in weight in under 30 minutes. Amazon continues to weigh concerns over Liability, safety and theft, but remain very optimistic with this exciting new way to offer a better service to their customers.
